Nicolás Maduro warned of possible civil war in Venezuela
Havana, July 18 (RHC) Venezuelan presidential candidate of the Great Patriotic Pole, Nicolás Maduro, warned of a possible civil war if the fascist right wing succeeds in deceiving the population in the July 28 elections.
During an event last night in the municipality of Iribarren, Barquisimeto, Lara State (northwest), the president, who is running for his second re-election and third mandate, declared that this extreme right wing is imbued with hatred, desire for revenge, racism and contempt for the people.
He stressed that if they deceive the Venezuelan people, "there could be a bloodbath and a civil war," because this people will not allow them to be deprived of their land, to give away the Guayana Esequiba and to privatize social rights.
The head of state affirmed that "we are a force and a popular power in every street and community, but we are also a military and police power, and the civil-military union will not allow this homeland to be taken from us.
Speaking to thousands of supporters after 9 p.m. local time, Maduro warned that what happens on July 28 will determine whether there will be peace and stability in the coming years or whether "Venezuela will enter a spiral of violence, destabilization and civil war.
We are going backwards and we are a colony or we continue to be a free and sovereign homeland, wild capitalism is coming or we continue to build our humanist and liberating, Christian and Bolivarian model, he warned.
The dignitary called for a vote for peace, tranquility, the right to the future and independence: "Go to the polls, because we are the only ones who guarantee peace and the existence of the Bolivarian Republic; peace or war, tranquility or Guarimba, vote and triumph," he urged.
Maduro affirmed that the electoral system, which brings together all the revolutionary and chavista forces, is the guarantee of peace and commented that "we are building a victory among all of us, this is not the problem of one man, but of a country.
When July 28, the blessed day, arrives, at 05:00 local time, the roosters and the reveille of Carabobo will be heard, "those who want a homeland, come with me," as Commander Hugo Chávez (1954-2013) said on January 23, 2011, when he urged the people not to let the bourgeoisie take away their spaces, Maduro reiterated.
As part of the ongoing process of the electoral chronogram, the United Nations Panel of Experts and the Carter Center's Technical Mission for Electoral Observation continued their meetings with opposition candidates on the road to the 31st elections since the arrival of Chávez in 1999 (source: Prensa Latina)
