Caracas, July 29 (RHC)-- Nicolas Maduro has been declared the re-elected president of Venezuela for another six year term.

Shortly after 12 midnight local time, the Consejo Nacional Electoral -- the National Electoral Council -- announced the results of Sunday's presidential election in Venezuela.

With 59% participation of voters, Nicolas Maduro obtained 5,150,092 votes -- for a percentage of 51.20%.

Opposition candidate Edmundo González garnered 4,445,978 votes -- for 44.2%

Eight other opposition candidates obtained 462,704 votes -- for a total of 4.6%.

The head of the National Electoral Council, Elvis Amoroso, emphasized that the electoral results were delayed for several hours due to a sabotage of the nation's electoral system and called for a full investigation into the terrorist action.
