Caracas, August 13 (RHC)-- Venezuelan Foreign Minister Yvan Gil rejected on Monday the statements of the White House spokeswoman, Karine Jean-Pierre, who has proclaimed herself as the electoral authority in the South American country.

“The coup operation, designed and directed from the United States, has no limits.  Now Karine Jean-Pierre, the White House spokesperson, is proclaiming herself as the electoral authority in Venezuela,” the foreign minister wrote in a message on Telegram and Facebook.

During a press conference, Jean-Pierre confirmed to international media the position of her government -- the United States -- which ignores President Nicolás Maduro as the country’s re-elected president.

In this regard, the Venezuelan foreign minister specified that Jean-Pierre’s answers to journalists’ questions “are the result of well-paid lobbies, all questions and comments in the pantomime of the Press Conference have a price, framed in the great conspiracy against Venezuela.”

Gil also demanded the U.S. government spokeswoman to answer who pays and what funds are financing this operation against Venezuela.  After the elections of 28 July in Venezuela, the extreme right-wing candidate Edmundo González did not recognize the results that affirmed the victory of the president Nicolás Maduro.

Venezuela was also the target of a cyber attack against state institutions, including the National Electoral Council (CNE), and there were so-called guarimbas and violent acts by people financed by the United States, Peru and Colombia.

In response to this situation, the Venezuelan head of state went to the Electoral Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ) to file a contentious appeal that would allow an investigation to be opened in the name of peace in the country.
