Brasilia, August 19 (RHC)-- The social media platform X, formerly Twitter, announced over the weekend it will be shutting down its operations in Brazil.
The move by owner Elon Musk comes after X faced legal challenges in Brazil over its refusal to fight the spread of misinformation online.
Earlier this year, a Brazilian judge ordered X to block certain accounts accused of spreading fake news and hate messages, including some belonging to supporters of far-right former President Jair Bolsonaro.
