Havana, August 23 (RHC)-- The regional director of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) for Western Asia and North Africa, Adele Khodr urged world leaders to reach a ceasefire agreement, warning that daily violence in Gaza should not become the "new normal."
On her account on the social network X, the UN official wrote: "Every day that passes, violence intensifies in Gaza, bodies of small children are pulled from the rubble, wounded children cry in fear without any safe space or place left for them."
Since October 7th last year, the Israeli regime's indiscriminate attacks on the coastal strip have left a tragic toll of some 40,265 Palestinians dead and 93,144 wounded.
Meanwhile, the strict blockade imposed on Gaza and the destruction of most of the civil and health infrastructure subject the hundreds of thousands of displaced people to a severe humanitarian crisis. (Source: HISPANTV)
