Rio de Janeiro, October 21 (Xinhua) -- Brazil's two presidential candidates remain technically tied less than one week before the October 26th runoff election, according to a poll released Monday.

Pollster MDA reported President Dilma Rousseff, who is running for reelection and won the first round, led with 45.5 percent of voter support, while opposition candidate Aecio Neves trailed with 44.5 percent.

The poll, carried out October 18th and 19th, has a margin of error of 2.2 percentage points, meaning the candidates were technically tied. Although Rousseff had a slight advantage in voter support, many of those surveyed said they believed the opposition would win the election.

Rousseff won the first round on October 5 with 41.5 percent of the vote, against 33.5 percent garnered by Neves.
