Havana, November 26 (PL-RHC)-- Members of Colombia Revolutionary Armed Forces-People's Army (FARC-EP), now prisoners in La Picota, in Colombia, are reported to be in deteriorating health.

A statement released in Havana by FARC-EP representatives highlighted their concern about several of prisoners with serious health problems, due to systematic lack of attention and constant torture.

The text said the rebels are currently on hunger strikes to protest their detention. Prison authorities have received many calls or letters from the rebels but no proper answer has yet been given to their demands. They are reported to get just bread every day.

The statement says that there are a large number of prisoners of war still in prison, totally abandoned, and in very serious health condition, proposing that those in delicate health be released.
