Bogota, May 6 (RHC)-- Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos, through an executive order, has approved the extradition of Leiver Padilla Mendoza, also known as ‘El Colombia,’ to Venezuela.
Padilla Mendoza is wanted by Venezuelan justice for his involvement in the murder of Venezuela's socialist deputy Robert Serra and his partner María Herrera on October 1, 2014.
In Venezuela, Padilla Mendoza has been charged with aggravated homicide, armed robbery and unlawful association to commit crimes.
Last week, the Colombian Supreme Court gave the green light to extradite Padilla Mendoza, after acknowledging that the Venezuelan authorities had fulfilled all the requirements in their extradition request.
