Los Angeles, May 21 (RHC)-- The U.S. city of Los Angeles has become the largest city to approve a significant increase to the minimum wage. The Los Angeles City Council voted to raise the minimum from $9 to $15 an hour by 2020.
While some criticized the fact that it will take five years to make the move, the decision will affect as many as 800,000 workers, or almost 50 percent of the workforce. It's expected to spark wage hikes across Southern California and boost similar efforts nationwide.
