La Paz, August 18 (teleSUR-RHC)-- In an interview published Monday by Argentinean daily Pagina 12, Bolivian President Evo Morales revealed he will be meeting with presidential candidate Daniel Scioli.

When asked if he would be visiting Buenos Aires any time soon, Morales responded with a smile, “I have an appointment with Scioli, a friend, (and) we hope he will do well in the elections.”

The Bolivian head of state said he trusted the candidate, despite not having a left-wing background, given that Argentine President Cristina Fernandez is backing him.

“He is Cristina's favorite candidate … I have a lot of hope, not only because of Cristina (backing him) but also because of Nestor (Kirchner, late president), the whole process. We are the generation that staged a democratic revolution,” explained Morales.

Scioli is the presidential candidate for the governing Front for Victory, and is leading the polls ahead of October's elections.

President Morales also highlighted the importance of progressive governments in the region, which he believes are now under attack.

“Now they cannot launch military or civilian coup d'etats, they cannot conspire from the empire (United States), but I feel there are other forms of political aggression such as blackmailing and conditioning Venezuela. In Argentina, the vulture funds are carrying an economic aggression … I feel there's political aggression against Dilma, a coup through Congress,” explained the head of state.

Morales highlighted the intention of his government to increase trade and cooperation with neighboring Argentina and to shift from a commercial relationship to a partnership.
