Guatemala City, August 25 (teleSUR-RHC)-- Three more ministers from Guatemalan President Otto Perez Molina's cabinet resigned on Monday, including the country's finance minister, amid an ongoing corruption scandal that appears to reach the highest levels of office. Communications Minister Victor Corado, Planning Secretary Ekaterina Arbolievna Parrilla, and Finance Minister Dorval Caris submitted their resignations along with other high ranking bureaucrats of the Perez Molina government. These most recent resignations come after a series of others, including the ministers of the economy, education, and the commissioner for competitiveness. The number of high-profile resignations now totals 15. TeleSUR's correspondent in Guatemala Mario Rosales reported that some of the resigning ministers urged President Perez Molina to follow suit. Guatemalans are set to vote in general elections for a new president on September 6th, however social organization have called for electoral reform and a null vote in protest of the political crisis under the banner “in these conditions, we don’t want elections.” Social movements, student organizations and non-governmental organizations said they will hold a new round of protests demanding Perez Molina’s resignation starting Tuesday.
