Caracas, October 8 (teleSUR-RHC)-- Venezuela's leftist political alliance, Gran Polo Patriotico (GPP), announced on Wednesday that it will formally ask the National Electoral Council to make all the country's political parties respect the results of the upcoming December 6th parliamentary elections. The CPP electoral campaign chief Jorge Rodriguez said the request will be submitted this Thursday in order to prevent acts of destabilization during or after the elections. Early last year, at least 43 people were killed in the wave of right-wing violent protests called “guarimbas,” which were actually aimed at destabilizing the country and foment a coup against the democratically-elected government of President Nicolas Maduro. Rodriguez said the leftist bloc is working in order to overcome the current difficulties the South American country is facing. He also said they want a maximum deployment of political forces to achieve victory in the long-awaited electoral process. The announcement comes after Maduro on Monday proposed the creation of a document to be signed by all the political parties contending in the parliamentary elections in order to ensure that they will respect the results. Unlike the right-wing opposition alliance, Democratic Unity Movement (MUD), the ruling United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), and supporting parties have shown their capacity for debate. The PSUV had a huge participation in its primaries in June, when more than 3 million people turned out to vote in a participation considered as very high rate for an party’s internal election, and in the context of two years of the U.S.-led economic war that affects the country.
