Rome, November 7 (teleSUR-RHC)-- Bolivian President Evo Morales has been awarded a degree from the University Sapienza in Rome. Evo Morales has already been awarded at least six other honorary academic titles by universities in Bolivia, Uruguay, France and Argentina, where at least three universities have lauded Morales for his work.

TeleSUR opinion writer Atilio Boron, who is a professor at the University of Buenos Aires, was quoted by Telam as saying, on the occasion of one of Morales’ honorary degrees at Argentina’s Comahue National University; "This Bolivian is the legitimate heir of the great patriots of Latin American emancipation, a man of continental dimension who completely identifies with the common destiny of the peoples of our America."

Prior to his appointment at the University Sapienza, President Morales met Friday with the presidents of Italy’s legislative chambers in Rome.

At the meeting, Morales talked about the situation in Bolivia, while the Italian lawmakers spoke of Italy’s relationship with the Andean country.

Morales is currently on a nine-day European tour to discuss cooperation and investment agreements in Germany, Italy, France, and Ireland, with a focus on technical, academic, and scientific cooperation and cultural exchange.

While Morales is out of the country, lawmakers have been voting on whether to hold a referendum to extend presidential term limits.
