Chile, Mexico and Peru are also members of APEC, while Colombia will participate as its only guest in the 23rd meeting, which will conclude on Thursday in Manila.

After that meeting, it is planned a meal offered by the organizers of the Summit to the 21 attending leaders, to which the Colombian Head of State will assist as well.

In the last hours of his stay in Manila, Santos met with Bachelet in a private meeting that was assessed by the Colombian part as positive in all aspects.

Santos thanked the three partners of the Pacific Alliance for their efforts in APEC, aimed to invite Colombia to the current presidential meeting.

He recalled that belonging to that intercontinental mechanism does not depend on Colombia, but on the decision that the moratorium on new members is lifted, which has been maintained by that alliance for several years.

During his stay in this Southeast Asian nation, Santos also shared with a group of 40 Asian businessmen interested in investing in Colombia, a meeting attended by the ministers of Commerce, Cecilia Álvarez-Correa and Foreign Minister María Ángela Holguín.

According to sources of the Colombian delegation, Santos plans to continue today the bilateral meetings with other leaders of this side of the world.
