Buenos Aires, November 25 (teleSUR-RHC)-- Outgoing Argentinean President Cristina Fernandez met with her incoming successor Mauricio Macri on Tuesday to discuss a looming transition of power. Macri is set to be sworn in on December 10th after winning a runoff election over the weekend. The meeting between Fernandez and Marci took place shortly after the outgoing president held closed-door talks with high-level figures from her left-wing electoral alliance, the Front for Victory (FPV). The transition set for December 10th will be the first time the FPV has lost the presidency in over a decade. Macri, a businessman and former mayor of Buenos Aires, has promised to cut capital controls and trade restrictions in the name of boosting Argentina’s economy. He is also expected to cut subsidies to the energy and transportation sectors. "The is the beginning of a new era that has to carry us toward the opportunities we need to grow and progress," Macri told supporters after Sunday's vote. Critics say Macri’s proposals will turn the country back to 1990s neo-liberalism, rolling back the social welfare programs of President Cristina Fernandez and her husband, the former, late President Nestor Kirchner, which have benefited poor and working class Argentines. Macri has also pledged to reshape Argentina’s international relations, saying he wants the country to have “a good relationship with all countries.”
