Bogota, November 27 (PL-RHC)-- The foreign ministers of member countries of the Ibero-American Conference will meet on December 12th in Cartagena de Indias, the Colombian Foreign Ministry reported.

In a press release, the ministry explained that the meeting will take place at the convention center Julio Cesar Turbay Ayala, in the capital of the Caribbean Atlantic department.

Colombia currently chairs the Pro Tempore Secretary of that group of States, which 25th Summit will take place in this Andean nation next year.

With this mandate, corresponds to Bogotá the coordination of the calendar of activities for 2016, including the core agenda and themes to be addressed by the meeting of Heads of State and Government of the 22 member nations.

In the previous meeting of 2014 held in the Mexican port of Veracruz, the Ibero-American Summit issued 11 special statements, including one to support peace talks in Havana among the Colombian government and the insurgent FARC-EP.

The Foreign Ministry note explains that not all the activities of the foreign ministers will allow access to the press, because there will be limited access in some cases.

Prior to this ministerial meeting scheduled next month took place the second call of the National Coordinators and Heads of Cooperation of Ibero-American States.

The first preparatory meeting of this kind was held last May in San Carlos Palace, headquarters of the Colombian Foreign Ministry, which unanimously elected Brazilian Ambassador Mariangela Rebuá de Andrade Simões as the new Ibero-American Deputy Secretary for four years.

At the last Summit of port Jarocho, President Juan Manuel Santos said he hoped the next meeting of this kind at the highest level is performed for the first time in a peaceful Colombia.

The date and place of the next Summit are yet to be decided.
