Ankara, March 14 (RHC-teleSUR), -- A car bomb went off in the Turkish capital of Ankara on Sunday evening, killing 37 people, according to Turkish Health Minister Mehmet Muezzinoglu. A further 75 people were reportedly injured.

Turkish broadcaster NTV says the explosion was caused by a car bomb, at a bus stop near a park in the center of the city. Gunfire was heard after the blast, with a number of vehicles reportedly on fire.

The attack, which took place near a courthouse and both the Justice and Interior Ministries, was quickly denounced by Deputy Prime Minister Bekir Gozdag as an act of terror.

Ankara has been the site of several terrorist attacks in recent months. In February, at least 28 people were killed and 61 injured in a car bomb attack on Turkish military vehicles in Ankara. In October 2015, at least 102 people were killed and 400 more injured after an attack on a peace rally in Ankara believed to have been carried out by the Islamic State group.
