Port-Au-Prince, Mar 17 (RHC) The National Food Security Council of Haiti warned that the poor food production because of the drought will leave four million nationals in need of food aid.
The Council reminds of the rising food prices in the markets, and an inflation above 14 percent, amid unemployment rates of more than 70 percent.
The warning includes the announcement of a support plan that benefits 40,000 families from the 20 communities hardest hit by the drought; nonetheless, it reminds that under the current severe financial distresses they are dealing with, the food shortage may hurt five million people, which is half of Haiti's population.
