Havana, Mar 24 (RHC) The delegations of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia- People's Army and the government of Juan Manuel Santos, failed to reach a long awaited agreement on a bilateral cease-fire they were to announce on March 23rd.
The head of the rebel group, Iván Márquez, said that although it was impossible to sign a pact, there is firm commitment to bring the armed conflict to an end, so the FARC-EP will take part in the new efforts to settle pending affairs.
Humberto de La Calle, head of the government delegation, said they failed to meet the date because there are still significant differences on the part of the insurgents to surrender their weaponry.
