Havana, August 19 (RHC)-- Cuba has been confirmed as one of the few developing nations to maintain a steady increase in forest areas, with 30 percent of the national territory covered by woodland in 2015.

According to data published by the National Bureau of Statistics and Information in 2010, forest areas in Cuba occupied 27 percent of the national territory.

The western province of Pinar del Rio is considered the most reforested, with 47 percent of its total area covered by trees, followed by Guantanamo, in the east, and then central Matanzas.
