Havana, November 4 (RHC/Xinhua) -- More than 60 Chinese companies are present this week at the 34th Havana International Trade Fair, seeking to boost Chinese participation in the Cuban economy.
The Chinese pavilion at ExpoCuba, the fair’s site, on the outskirts of Havana, continues to catch the attention of companies, entrepreneurs, and general visitors alike. Hosted by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, the pavilion showcases the diverse nature of Cuba-China economic relations.
Gu Junqiu, manager in Cuba of the Chinese home appliance manufacturing company Midea, said their products have been in Cuba for seven years now, with what he described as a positive impact on the Cuban market. Junqiu spoke highly of the changing market in Cuba. He said his company plans to both expand the products list and build a post-sales system for spare parts and service.
Zhao Jianhua, general manager of the company Soyea, which sells TV decoders and electronic, said they are in discussions with Cuban authorities to set up a factory on the island. “Cuba's geographical position – he said – is also strategic to introduce products in nearby markets, particularly the Caribbean.”
China is Cuba's second-largest trading partner.
