Havana, November 24 (RHC)-- The 34th Meeting of the Cuba-Vietnam Inter-Governmental Commission concluded sessions Wednesday in Havana with the signing of several agreements aimed at strengthening economic and scientific-technical ties.
Addressing Cuban and Vietnamese entrepreneurs who took part in a business forum, Cuban Minister for Foreign Trade and Investment Rodrigo Malmierca said the meeting of the inter-governmental commission served to strengthen links between the two governments and peoples.
Malmierca said work needs to be done to bring economic relations to the same high-level reached by political ties between the Caribbean state and the Asian country.
At the end of the meeting, officials from the countries' construction sector penned an agreement that provides for the setting up of a joint venture in Cuba to manufacture of items, among them bathroom accessories.
In the field of scientific research, Cuba's Finlay Institute and Vietnam's Davac Company committed to working together in the development of a vaccine against typhoid fever.
A memorandum of understanding was also signed, aimed at bilateral cooperation in the remodeling and refurbishing of tourist facilities across Cuba.
