Havana, February 14 (RHC)-- Five titles on the life and work of Revolution leader, the late Fidel Castro were launched Monday by publishing houses Capitán San Luis and Editora Política, in the framework of the 26th edition of Cuba's Book Fair 2017, whose first stage is underway in Havana until February 19th. Monday's launchings are among some 20 works dedicated to Fidel at this year's festival of literature and reading.
Among titles dedicated to the revolutionary leader is 'Fidel Castro ¿qué encontró al triunfo de la revolución?', which is a compilation of testimonies and images by Cuban researcher Juan Carlos Rodríguez on the serious social problems in pre-revolutionary Cuba.
During the book launching, the author said: “Kids lived on the streets, were forced to work and did not attend school. That was Cuba's reality up until January 1st 1959. Fidel and the Revolution he started acted swiftly and with great determination to change that reality.”
The book by researcher Juan Carlos Rodríguez highlights Fidel's well-developed personal attributes and strong leadership capabilities.
Among testimonies in the book is one by legendary guerrilla fighter Ernesto 'Che' Guevara, which was published for the first time on April 9th, 1961, by the Cuban magazine Verde Olivo. In it Che calls Fidel 'a great leader, brave, courageous and determined, a man whose work and acting was driven by a profound feeling of always trying to fulfill his people's dreams and aspirations.
