Havana, July 15 (RHC)-- The United Nations Independent Expert on Human Rights and International Solidarity, Virginia Dandan, has acknowledged that the U.S. economic, financial and trade blockade limits the work of the Cuban government and people.

Wrapping up a three-day visit to Havana, Dandan said that one of those limitations is the impossibility of accessing new health equipment that could be used in surgeries and other procedures.

After assessing the strength of Cubans in the design and implementation of programs related to education, health and sport, she said that the conclusions of her visit to the country will be presented in a report to the UN Council for Human Rights, based in Geneva.

The Philippine-born specialist said on that occasion she will show Cuba's strengths in human rights and international solidarity and will also include the challenges facing the country.

During her stay in Havana, Virginia Dandan met with Cuban and civil society authorities. She also visited medical offices and other places of interest.
