Luanda, August 31 (RHC-Granma)-- Cuban collaborators in Angola highlighted the role of the Federation of Cuban Women (FMC) in its efforts to promote the well being of women and their families.
Activities to celebrate the organization’s 57th anniversary included encounters with FMC members, talks and music performances; during which participants highlighted the efforts of the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution Fidel Castro, and the organization’s founding President, Vilma Espín, to promote gender equality ever since the institution was created on August 23, 1960.
Meanwhile, Secretary General of the Angolan Women’s Organization (OMA) Luzia Ingles van Dúnem, sent a message of congratulations to the FMC.
In the letter, Dúnem called on Cuban women to “continue defending women’s rights, strengthening the organization and dignifying women with the same determination and commitment.”
The OMA secretary general also expressed support for the Cuban people and all Cuban women, and reiterated the organization’s willingness to strengthen the historic and fraternal ties which unite both associations.
