Havana, November 21 (RHC-Minrex)-- A credit agreement has been signed between Cuba and the French Development Agency (AFD) to finance the Livestock Cooperative Development Project in the Prodegan central-eastern region.  The plan aims to boost the livestock sector in the central province of Camagüey.

The signing was headed by the Minister of Foreign Trade and Investment, Rodrigo Malmierca Díaz and the director of the Latin American and Caribbean Department of the AFD, Hervé Conan.  The ceremony was also attended by the French Ambassador in Cuba, Jean-Marie Bruno.

Malmierca took the opportunity to thank the AFD for the financial support given.  He said that this agreement is the first step in an extensive road of joint work between Cuba and France.

Conan announced other projects for next year in the rail sector, and also in renewable energy and health.

The AFD office began its work in the Caribbean nation last year as a framework to finance various investments, especially public infrastructure.

Since its creation, the Agency has been responsible for supporting other nations and local governments and is today present in more than 100 territories through its 85 branches.
