Havana, November 23 (RHC)-- Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez met Wednesday in Havana with his visiting counterpart from the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, Ri Yong Ho.
“This visit is a demonstration of the ties of cooperation and friendship between both nations, and which are the legacy of historic leaders Fidel Castro Ruz and Kim Il-Sung,” stated the top Cuban diplomat.
During the meeting, at the headquarters of the Cuban Foreign Ministry in Havana, Minister Rodríguez confirmed the Cuban support of peace on the Korean Peninsula, and that a lasting political solution to the situation in the region can only be achieved through constructive dialogue and negotiation.
Foreign Minister Rodríguez underscored that Cuba strongly rejects the imposition of unilateral, arbitrary sanctions, which run contrary to International Law.
The top Cuban diplomat went on to note that the visit of his North Korean counterpart will contribute to strengthening bilateral ties and fruitful political dialogue between the two peoples, parties and governments.
The North Korean foreign minister said that he was pleased to be visiting Cuba, saying: “Although Cuba and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea are geographically distant, we have many similarities and I feel at home here.”
