Havana, January 17 (RHC)-- More than 1,600 health experts from 20 nations, have confirmed their participation in an International Health Convention here in Havana, marking the 122nd anniversary of the Calixto García University Hospital.
During the scientific event, from January 22nd through the 24th, experts with the prestigious Cuban health center will discuss outstanding results of research work, as well as its professional training practices.
Hospital Director, Dr. Carlos Alberto Martinez Blanco said that over 700 papers will be presented. He recalled that the Calixto García Hospital offers services in 37 medical specialties and is a reference center in health assistance within the National Health System.
Professionals who have confirmed their attendance come from Canada, the United States, Mexico, Ecuador, Peru, Colombia, Germany, Venezuela, East Timor, Belize, Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guyana, Honduras, China and Haiti, among other nations.
Issues for discussion include trauma, head and neck, spinal cord and arms and legs surgery, assistance to critical patients, metabolism, chronic and infectious illnesses, health conditions associated with aging, natural and traditional medicine, health administration, professional training, imaginary, pathology and laboratory, among others.
Since its foundation on January 23rd, 1896, the Calixto Garcia University Hospital, considered a university and symbol of Cuban medicine, has trained hundreds of thousands of both Cuban and foreign skilled health professionals.
