Havana, Feb 8 (RHC)-- Members of the electoral commissions in the different Cuban territories continue to receive training, and are setting the necessary conditions for the general elections, scheduled for March 11.
More than eight million voters are registered to take part in the elections, which will be bringing a new national assembly to Cuba in April.
The National Electoral Commission said in a press release that the process is running smoothly but that priority is being assigned to the training of elections officials, considering that a double vote will be taking place--that of deputies to the National Assembly and of provincial delegates, which means working with two ballots: a green one for deputies and a white one for delegates.
There will be two ballot boxes at polling stations, said María Esther Bacallao Martínez, secretary of the National Electoral Commission, noting that voters could vote for all, for several or for one of the candidates included on the ballots.
Bacallao said the number of polling stations has been expanded to 24,470, of which she said 141 will be “special stations” set up in hospitals, terminals, and other places, to facilitate voters there exercising their right.
