Cienfuegos, Feb 12 (RHC)-- A childhood intelligence potential laboratory, supporting the treatment of children with special educational needs, and contributing to teacher training, has been established in Cienfuegos.
The third of its kind in Cuba and the first outside the capital, the space, located in the Conrado Benítez teaching center of the University of Cienfuegos, strengthens the work of this university in Special Education, Speech Therapy and psychotherapy.
The laboratory has resources to stimulate sensory systems like vision, hearing, smell, touch and taste by stringing games, ball games, chess, dolls and musical instruments, as well as floor games with letters, numbers and characters.
There the Neuro Point method, designed and intended for education and stimulation of children at an early age is used, through which child development is fostered in order to promote early learning and the development of multiple intelligence power, according to its manager, the educator Orlando Terré Camacho, president of the World Association of Special Education (that gave the laboratory free of charge).
This method "establishes strategies and educational bases, properly sequenced and organized based on early stimulation, which lead to the development of the infant, promoting positive learning for their training and guaranteeing school success," said Terré.
In addition to Cienfuegos, there are two other laboratories in Cuba, at the La Pradera International Health Center - which has benefited 360 children with a cochlear implant - and at the University of Pedagogical Sciences in Havana. There are 15 of its kind in the world, all donated by the World Association for Special Education.
