Cuban Vice President Mercedes López Acea concludes African tour

Victoria, February 17 (RHC-Minrex) -- The Vice President of the Council of State of Cuba, Mercedes López Acea, described as very positive the result of her visit to Seychelles, where her African tour, begun February 3, ended Friday.

During her stay in Victoria, Mercedes López Acea fulfilled an intense work agenda that included an audience with President Danny Faure, and official conversations with Vice President Vincent Meriton and an important group of Ministers, on issues of bilateral interest in order to deepen the historical ties of cooperation.

The head of the Cuban delegation was also received by the Vice President of the National Assembly, Nicholas Pera, where she conveyed the gratitude of the Cuban people for the support of Seychelles for Cuba in the fight against the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States.

The program included a visit to the city's Botanical Garden where the head of the Cuban delegation planted a tree that will symbolize the perpetual friendship between both countries. She also toured the Mahé and Praslin Hospitals, and visited with staff from the Cuban collaboration project.

Vice President Vincent Meriton, Minister Macsuzy Mondon, Foreign Secretary Barry Faure and the Ambassador of Cuba to Seychelles, Juan Humberto Macias Pino saw Mercedes López Acea and her delegation off at the international airport of Victoria.
