The equipment, valued at some five million dollars, was officially delivered to the Island´s Ministry of Agriculture in Havana

Ydael Pérez Brito, Deputy Minister of Agriculture, expressed appreciation for India´s contribution to the island´s agriculture and said that the small and medium size tractors will be used in cultivation of protected and semi-protected crops throughout the country.

The 60 tractors, assembled in Cuba by technicians of the Ministry of Agriculture, and the Indian group Sonalika Tractors, will also be used in intensive agriculture.

India´s Ambassador to Cuba, Tsewang Namgyal, said that the donation is a symbol of bilateral cooperation, and an effort to strengthen trade relations between the two countries.

Bilateral ties between Cuba and India, one of the largest emerging economies, have a historical character and have been strengthened in recent years.
