Havana, May 14 (RHC)-- The 27th International Meeting on Management of Heritage Cities is underway in the Cuban capital.
Specialists from Portugal, Mexico, Argentina, Switzerland, Chile, Spain, Guatemala, France, the United Kingdom and Cuba, are attending the event, which will run from May 14 to 17.
The historic center of the Cuban capital, known as Old Havana, along with its fortification system was declared World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1982.
The meeting is taking place at the Saint Francis of Assisi convent, located in the heart of the old city, and was inaugurated by a keynote speech by the City Historian Eusebio Leal.
According to Prensa Latina, the event is sponsored by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, the European Union, the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation and the Barcelona City Council, among other entities.
