ExpoCaribe successfully concludes in Santiago de Cuba

Santiago de Cuba, June 24 (RHC)-- The 16th ExpoCaribe trade fair came to an end over the weekend but we left  Cuba's doors open for the promotion of new business ventures,said Antonio Luis Carricarte, first vice minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment.

 

Carricarte said that this edition raised the expectations of Cuban and foreign companies, which should continue negotiations for the benefit of the parties.

 

The vice minister noted that the event went beyond being a business gathering and it became an authentic demonstyration of friendship between Cuba and the participating countries.

 

Carricarte expressed appreciation for their support in the fight against the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States on the island, and its current reinforcement.

 

"Working together for multilateralism and the founding principles of the Association of Caribbean States (ACS) that are unity, solidarity and cooperation, will make us stronger", said tCarricarte at the award ceremony of the event held at the Heredia theater.

 

On the development of the fair, he highlighted the reactivation of the Business Forum of the Greater Caribbean, sponsored by the ACS, and the celebration of an event sponsored by the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), the first of its type ever held in ExpoCaribe.

 

During the fair some 100 meetings were held with the presence of approximately 90 companies from the Caribbean, covering the agrobusiness sector, general industry, biopharmaceutical and biotechnology, health and tourism.

 

It was announced at the closing ceremony that the next edition of the fair will be held in 2021.
