Havana, September 21 (RHC)-- Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel stressed on Friday the importance of quality in education, and the importance of training a more comprehensive teaching professional.
Speaking at a faculty meeting at the 'Enrique José Varona' Pedagogical University in Havana, the president said it is essential to make classes more attractive and encourage reading among students.
He also referred to the necessary preparation of teachers and the importance of subjects such as Spanish, history and mathematics, especially the latter because it helps to organize people's logical thinking.
The head of state also called on students to study the thoughts of the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro and the ideals of José Martí, our National Hero.
The president commented on issues related to the current energy situation, directly linked to the economic, commercial and financial blockade that the United States has maintained against Cuba for almost 60 years.
The University 'Enrique José Varona' is the dean of Pedagogical Sciences in Cuba and has more than five thousand students enrolled in twenty specialties in the current academic year. In its 55 years of existence, the center for higher education has graduated more than 88,000 professionals.
