Havana, October 30 (RHC)-- The Cuban Chapter of Social Movements is convening the Anti-Imperialist Encounter of Solidarity, for Democracy and against Neoliberalism, from November 1 to 3 at Havana’s Convention Center.
More than one thousand delegates from social movements, parties, and political figures, intellectuals, and academics have confirmed their participation to address the new challenges of the left in the face of the growing hostility of imperialism.
Fernando Gonzalez Llort, President of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP), one of the leading organizers of the event, told the Round Table TV program that the meeting is taking place amid election results and popular uprisings in Latin America against neoliberal policies, which confirm that there is no retreat of the left in the region.
He explained that the event will meet in six thematic commissions that will focus on solidarity with Cuba, free trade and transnationals, cultural warfare, youth, and the integration of the identities of the Big Homeland.
Some of the specials guests invited for the event include Irene Leon, Atilio Boron, Stella Calloni, Ignacio Ramonet, among others.
