Oriente University and ELAM graduates will pay tribute to Fidel

Santiago de Cuba, November 25 (RHC)-- Students and professors of the University of Oriente in Santiago de Cuba and a representation of the Latin American School of Medicine (ELAM), founded 20 years ago, will pay tribute to the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro.

Special morning rallies to commemorate his legacy, a twitterstorm, artistic performances with graffiti and paintings on various media and concerts with young fans of the University Student Federation (FEU) are part of the program conceived by the authorities and the Chair for the Study of the Work and Thought of the revolutionary leader, reported Prensa Latina.

Three years after his death, a Photo Exhibit on the Commander in Chief will be inaugurated as well as a solemn evening at the University Theater will evoke him, with remarks by the president of the FEU at the university, Pedro L. Zacarías, and the Haitian doctor Patrick Dely, an ELAM graduate.

Meanwhile, the 2nd Colloquium on Fidel and the strength of truth and ideas will be held with the participation of students and teachers from both institutions at the Stained Glass Hall of the Revolution Square Antonio Maceo, where the ashes of the extinct head of state rested before its interment.

A panel will address José Martí and Fidel in the shaping of Cuban utopia, with professors from the Chair and the Cultural Society dedicated to the National Hero, will also be held which will be followed by a dialogue with the ELAM delegation, with students from Sri Lanka, Mongolia, Colombia, the United States, Suriname, Haiti, and Chad.

 

Young people from Ecuador, Zimbabwe, Kenya, Bolivia, Chile, the Congo, and El Salvador will also take part, conveying a message of gratitude for this school conceived by Fidel Castro to provide the most impoverished countries of the continent and other latitudes, with the necessary human resources to save lives.
