Strasbourg, November 28 (RHC)-- Member of European Parliament Manuel Pineda described Cuban citizen José Daniel Ferrer as a criminal and condemned a right-wing maneuver in the European Parliament to attack Cuba in clear subordination to the United States.

Speaking on Thursday in a plenary session in Strasbourg, France, dedicated to discussing cases of human rights violations, he warned that the right and extreme right still do not accept that "Mr. Aznar's infamous Common Position is over, and they insist on acting as Mr. Trump's butlers."

Today, they bring us a text in which they use as a pretext the detention and the judicial process with all the guarantees of a criminal accused of kidnapping and with a long history of crimes, including the beating of his pregnant ex-wife, he said in connection with the urgent resolution presented on the situation of Ferrer and human rights in general in Cuba.

According to Pineda, in Cuba, the opposition acts with total normality, unlike countries such as Colombia, Chile, Ecuador, and Bolivia, after the coup d'état, where it is persecuted, repressed, detained and sometimes murdered.

You won't find images of the Cuban police doing what we see every day in those 'exemplary democracies'," said the Spanish deputy in the European Parliament.

Likewise, he considered ridiculous the statements of previous speakers to defend the anti-Cuban initiative, citing the island's alleged interference in Latin America.

"Cuba's only intervention in the region and in other parts of the world is with troops of teachers and doctors, not as the United States does in Iraq, Libya and Syria, which seems to be of little interest to the authors of this text," he said.

Pineda urged them to assume that 'Cuba exists' and to support a relationship between equals with the Caribbean country.
