Kingston, January 25 (RHC)-- The arrival of a new brigade of Cuban nurses is expanding medical collaboration in Jamaica, as a sign of more than four decades of solidarity between the two countries.

According to Cuba's ambassador in Kingston, Ines Fors, about 40 nurses arrived in Jamaica to join more than 200 professionals from Cuba already there, to contribute to the welfare of the population, under the principles of humanity and altruism.

The Cuban ambassador highlighted the reception by Jamaican authorities, who recognized Cuba's important contribution to the provision of healthcare services in the nation.

The nursing staff will work for three years in many health institutions, although the main purpose is to work and live in the communities, providing a quality, timely and efficient service.

Since 1976, Cuban health professionals have provided medical assistance in Jamaica, supported by a technical collaboration agreement in force between both countries.
