Havana, March 13 (RHC)-- Army General Raul Castro, First Secretary of the Cuban Communist Party, and the President of the Republic, Miguel Diaz-Canel, sent floral offerings on Friday to the Martyrs of March 13th, on the occasion of the 63rd anniversary of the assault on the former Presidential Palace and the seizure of Radio Reloj.
At a political-cultural gathering, held at the Museum of the Revolution, José Ángel Fernández Castañeda, national president of the University Students Federation (FEU), said that Cuban youth would not let the memory of the heroes and martyrs of the nation die.
He stressed they are followers of the legacy of José Antonio Echeverría and his comrades in struggle, and that they assume the commitment to continue perfecting the island's socialism.
Speaking at the gathering, Manuel Gómez Sartorio, an assailant of the former Presidential Palace, stated that today´s youth are continuators of the Heroes and Martyrs of March 13th.
