Havana, April 3 (RHC)-- The people involved in the evacuation of the MS Braemar cruise ship are returning home healthy,  after completing the period of isolation, Juan Carlos Garcia Granda, Cuba's Minister of Tourism, said on Twitter on Thursday.

He congratulated all those who participated,  especially the drivers from Transtur.

" Our President called us to solidarity, unity, and thinking as a country, here is a practical experience," he said.

Meanwhile, the UK Ambassador to Cuba, Dr. Antony Stokes, posted a letter of appreciation on Twitter, conveying the gratitude of his country to the 43 Cubans who were involved in the operation.

"I assure you that your great gesture of solidarity will live on in the memory of the passengers and crew of MS Braemar, their families, and friends, who have now reunited thanks to your efforts," the letter read.

Since February, this ship - with five COVID-19  positive people on board- asked for help from Caribbean countries to dock in their territories, a request that was denied.

On March 16, the Cuban government authorized the maneuver, and two days later, it docked in national territory, for which all measures were taken for safe, hospitable, and expeditious repatriation of the passengers and crew.
