Washington, May 7 (RHC)-- U.S. Democratic Congresswomen Barbara Lee and Karen Bass have repudiated the recent armed attack against the Cuban embassy in this capital, about which, to this day, the U.S. government has yet to make an official statement.

"The acts of violence against diplomats and diplomatic missions are totally unacceptable and must be condemned," stated Cuban Ambassador to the U.S. Jose Ramon Cabaña, quoted this Thursday on his official Twitter account.

Barbara Lee, co-chair of the Bipartisan Working Group on Cuba, and Karen Bass, chair of the Congressional Black Caucus, both from California, said they were very shocked and saddened to hear about the act of violence committed against the island's embassy.

In the early morning of April 30th, an individual armed with an AK-47 semiautomatic rifle fired dozens of shots at the diplomatic headquarters building, without causing injuries.  We are pleased that no one was injured," Lee and Bass said in their statement, in which they "strongly supported the Secret Service's investigation into this incident."
