Kingston, December 23 (RHC)-- Jamaica and Cuba strengthened cooperation on health issues on Tuesday with the arrival in Kingston of 40 Cuban professionals to alleviate the complicated epidemiological situation on the neighboring Caribbean island.

According to official data, the arrival of these doctors, nurses, and technicians reinforces the Medical Brigade already present in the country, which surpassed 12 thousand positive cases to Covid-19 and is approaching 300 deaths due to that disease.

Cuban doctors assure that their work in Jamaica is another example of Cuba's solidarity vocation, especially in the context marked by the impact of Covid-19, a disease declared pandemic by the World Health Organization.

President Miguel Díaz Canel reaffirmed Havana's willingness to maintain cooperation in this and other sectors with the Caribbean countries at the recently held 7th Cuba-Caricom Summit.

In that forum, the Cuban President reiterated the willingness to maintain cooperation in health, especially in the confrontation with Covid-19.
