Cuba reports 699 new COVID-19 infections, four deaths

Havana, February 24 (RHC)—The National Director of Epidemiology, Dr. Francisco Duran, says Cuba reported 699 new Covid-19 infections and four deaths over the last 24 hours.

In a briefing on national television, he said that there were 19 328 people admitted with Covid-related issues by midnight, 2 824 were suspected, 11 875 were under epidemiological surveillance, and 4 629 were confirmed cases.

The molecular biology laboratories processed 18 792 samples and detected 699 positive cases.

The overwhelming majority of the cases detected over the last 15 days, 12 481 were autochthonous, while 351 patients contracted the disease abroad.

With the most recent data, Cuba accumulated 46 197 positive cases and 308 deaths since the beginning of the country's epidemic in March last year.

Havana reported the most cases on Tuesday, 395. Pinar del Rio with 60 and Santiago de Cuba with 52 followed.
