Havana, March 15 (RHC)-- Cuba will be represented at the fourth meeting of the Forum of Latin American and Caribbean Countries on Sustainable Development. It will be held virtually from Monday through Thursday, an official source informed.

The event is organized by the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), in coordination with Costa Rica's government, in its capacity as president pro tempore of this organization.

The Forum will analyze the progress, setbacks, and challenges that persist in the region for the implementation and follow-up of the 2030 Agenda on Sustainable Development and the Addis Ababa Action Agenda on Financing for Development in the midst of a health and economic crisis caused by Covid-19.

As part of the event, a dialogue of ministers and high-level authorities will be held on resilient and sustainable recovery from the pandemic. The Ministry of Foreign Trade and Investment (MINCEX), Rodrigo Malmierca, will head the Cuban delegation.

Cuba currently holds the vice-presidency of the Commission and its South-South Cooperation Committee.

The event also includes a regional workshop on voluntary national reviews in Latin America and the Caribbean, and a meeting of the Mechanism for Civil Society Participation in the Regional Forum on Sustainable Development and the 2030 Agenda, with several civil society organizations in the area.
