Ottawa, March 19 (RHC)-- The company Deltron Soluciones de Energía S.A. will soon operate in Cuba focused on developing, constructing, installing, managing, and commercializing electric energy photovoltaic solar parks on the island, it was announced in Ottawa on Friday.
The company -with totally foreign capital- was officially registered in Cuba through a virtual ceremony with Deltron Group executives' participation in Toronto and the representatives of the consulate of the Caribbean country in Ottawa, consul general Tania López and consul Beatriz Jorge.
Deltron Soluciones de Energía S.A., a Barbados company with representations in Canada and other countries, will contribute to at least 19 photovoltaic solar parks located in eight provinces of Cuba, according to Cuban authorities.
Established in 1987, Deltron began its renewable energy experience in early 2012 as an electrical contractor for a ground-mounted solar PV project in Canada, they indicate on their official website.
Over the past four years, they note, they have grown in that area and now offer a full suite of services in the renewable energy industry.
For its part, Cuba is currently showing favorable results in photovoltaic energy, a program that saves fuel, protects the environment, and advances energy independence.
In Cuba, 227 MW have been installed so far based on photovoltaic systems connected to the electricity grid, recently said the director of Generation with Renewable Energy Sources of the Electric Conglomerate (UNE), Ovel Concepción.
At present, he said, more than half of the fossil fuel used to generate electricity in Cuba is imported, hence the need to increase the participation of these alternatives.
He stressed that the Caribbean nation has a high potential in the wind, solar, sugarcane, and forestry biomass, and hydroelectric power plants, which have the advantage of being inexhaustible and do not pollute the environment.
