Prime Minister Manuel Marrero

Havana, April 29 (RHC) -- Cuba will participate in the meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council that will begin virtually this Thursday in the city of Kazan, Republic of Tatarstan, in the Russian Federation.

According to a note from the Cuban Foreign Ministry, Prime Minister Manuel Marrero will represent the island at the meeting, which will last until tomorrow.

The Council is the body of the Eurasian Economic Union, made up of the heads of government of the member states, which ensures the implementation and control of the realization of the Union Treaty.

Cuba participated for the first time as an Observer State on February 5.
On that occasion, the head of the Cuban government ratified the need to promote solidarity, multilateralism, and cooperation as the most effective ways to face common challenges.

Likewise, he placed Cuba's capabilities at the disposal of member states in the fight against Covid-19, particularly concerning medical and biotechnological collaboration and the production of vaccines.
The UEE approved the status of Observer State for the largest of the Antilles during a virtual summit in December 2020.
