Havana, June 8 (RHC)-- The Industrial Enterprise for Informatics, Communications, and Electronics (GEDEME) will manufacture 50 towers for mobile telephony.
Diana Rosa Laffita Vega, GEDEME's Business Director, told Granma newspaper that the production responds to an order from Empresa de Telecomunicaciones de Cuba S.A. (ETECSA) for antenna-bearing structures to replace imports.
The executive stated that the order includes 30 towers of 21 meters high and 20 of 30 meters; both are made of steel, either in profiles, plates or tubes, and are resistant to winds of approximately 175 Km/h.
This type of tower is not only used to support mobile telephony services. It can also be used as repeaters for television signals, AM and FM radio stations, among other services.
According to the specialist, this is an invaluable production that will replace imports, add value to society's computerization program, and have a high social impact.
