Havana, June 19 (RHC)-- The President of the Cuban Society of Poultry Farming Clemente Alberto Ramirez said in Havana that the economic sector in Latin America has safeguarded its competitiveness for the past fifty years, as it fosters agri-industrial development in an efficient and productive way.

Speaking at the 23rd Central American and Caribbean Poultry Congress, underway in Havana, Ramirez said that thanks to constant technological innovation, the talent and creativeness and the appropriate use of the opportunities offered by the regional market, poultry farming has experienced sustained growth with a positive impact on economic development.

This reality is observed in the creation of jobs and the contribution to agriculture, trade, transportation and services, said the executive as cited by ACN News Agency.

Ramirez, who also chairs the Central American and Caribbean Poultry Workers Federation, said that the challenges ahead in the sector include the development of stronger environment-friendly poultry farming techniques, and he urged industrialized nations to admit their responsibility as to the evolving climate change and their major obligations to mitigate the damage inflicted on the planet.

The executive said that Cuban poultry farming needs to identify its potential and needs in order to make proposals that can be included in possible business projects, and in this regards some viability and marketing studies are underway to promote investment projects according to the new legislations adopted in Cuba to encourage foreign investment.

The international poultry congress is being attended by producers, researchers, specialists and entrepreneurs from twenty nations, while over 40 companies from 19 countries are exhibiting their products at a commercial fair, which is part of the event.
