López Obrador reiterated his call to the U.S. to lift the blockade against Cuba.

Havana, Sep 16 (RHC) On Thursday, Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador (AMLO) said that for their struggle in defense of the country's sovereignty, the people of Cuba deserve the prize of dignity.

During the civic-military parade for the 211th anniversary of the Grito de Dolores, an event that marked the beginning of the Mexican war of independence, the president ratified that having resisted 62 years without surrender is an indisputable historic feat.

The Cuban Foreign Ministry highlights in its Twitter account the words of López Obrador, who pointed out that because of its example of resistance, Cuba should be considered as the new Numantia, in allusion to the small ancient city that defied Rome and became a paradigmatic model of heroism, strength and struggle for freedom.

AMLO respectfully called on the U.S. government to lift the blockade (economic, commercial and financial) against Cuba, because no state has the right to subjugate another people, he said.

Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel attended the civic-military parade for the 211th anniversary of Mexico's Cry of Independence as guest of honor and said: "Among all the brothers that Our America has given, Mexico is, for many reasons, one of the most dear to Cuba".

The Cuban dignitary arrived this morning in Mexico City for an official visit that will last until next Saturday, when the VI Summit of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States will be held. (Source: ACN)
